Earl E. Stonesifer purchased the company, then located on Main Street, Westminster, in February. For the tidy sum of $2500, he received an old delivery truck and a handful of Oxygen cylinders. Many people don’t know this, but the name C&O comes from the last names of the original owners, Cross & Osborne.
After outgrowing their Main Street facilities, they moved to a larger building on John Street, Westminster MD.
Following a 2 year battle with cancer, Earl passed away at home surrounded by his family. He left the business in the hands of his 4 children.
Earl’s daughter Patsy, and her son Jason purchased the business from her siblings.
Now C&O has thrived in recent years, expanding inventory and services, remodeling the store and adding employees. Still, family owned and operated, C&O operates under the same basic principles Earl instilled nearly 60 years ago.
